Roll your starting Attributes:
A new character generates his/her starting ability scores by rolling 30 sided dice. As a standard, they roll 3d30 and whatever is rolled is what the ability score is. Some races have special formulas for rolling a specific ability.
Select your Race:
After you roll your ability scores, you select the race you wish to play. Each race has some special abilities and earns skills and attribute points at a different rate.
Train your starting skills:
The next step is to train your character in the skills. You will have 20 skill points at level 1, plus your Racial bonus, plus your attribute bonus. Thereafter, you earn skill points based on your race bonus and attribute bonus.
Ranks are earned at a rate equal to 1/3 of your skill points that you earn each level rounded down (except for level one, you get as many ranks as you do skill points)
You are allowed to convert skill points into ranks after level 1 if you want -- the trade off is 1 to 1 (each skill point becomes a rank of the same type)
